#yegmusicclub presents… An Island (film screening)

An Island, a film by Vincent Moon

Something we get pretty riled up about at #yegmusicclub is live music, festivals and generally the experience of seeing music in our city. We gripe about the lack of a decent mid-sized venue and we daydream about running our own version of Folk Fest and came up with a goal of promoting a music event this year. This isn’t that. But this a first step…

Join us at Original Joe’s Varsity (upstairs) — our usual #yegmusicclub meeting space — on Feb. 20 at 7pm to screen An Island. RSVP by using the form on the website, or contacting Nicole. Invite people to the event through our Facebook event page!

An Island is a film about music  and its creators have invited the world to host free private/public screenings.

An Island (teaser video)

In August 2010, French filmmaker Vincent Moon and Efterklang‘s 8 piece-live band met up on an island off the Danish coast.

The objective was to shoot a film. A film with the same length as an album, and a film full of performances, experiments and collaborations.
Over an intense period of 4 days Efterklang collaborated with more than 200 local musicians, kids and parents, creating new performances and interpretations of songs from their album Magic Chairs (4AD, Rumraket 2010).

It was all filmed by Vincent Moon who same time conducted several filmic and musical experiments with Efterklang as his dedicated playmates.
